Be unique, memorable and have a unified appearance
Be appropriate for the business or group

Fotosearch Stock Photography allows users to search through millions of royalty-free clip art pictures, illustrations, stock video clips and more.

Logo Contest:

Design Contest hosts individual logo contests where you can state the requirements for your logo with the maximum price you'll pay and have different graphic designers submit possible logo designs. This is a great tool for viewing a number of possible designs and receiving the rights and artwork files for the design of your choice for a reasonable price.

Canva is an online design tool that allows people to easily create beautiful designs using ready-made, highly customizable templates.

Stock Embroidery Designs:

Elements of a Good Embroidered Design:

Simple

Memorable

Your embroidered design should:

Represent the artwork rather than attempt to duplicate it
Your business name should be the most important part
Your logo should be readable from a three foot distance so someone you meet for the first time can read it and remember the business name

Things to Remember When Having Your Logo Designed?

Consider all the possible uses and how those different applications will effect the appearance of your logo. If you plan to order embroidered items like shirts, hats or jackets there are additional considerations:

Background Color - What garment colors contrast well with your logo?
Amount of Detail - What form of your logo will work best for the type of garment?
Correct Sizing - Your artwork should be created in a sizable, high resolution file formation. Make sure your logo will work for embroidery by having it sized to the actual embroidered size (2.5" - 4" wide for a left chest logo) to see if its readable from a 3' distance. If an element is hard to read in print then it will be unreadable when embroidered.

Artwork to Embroidery - Considerations:

Unless you plan to only wear white garments make sure you see your artwork against different background colors so you know what garment colors will work with your embroidered design.
If your artwork contains special effects such as color gradients, thin outlines and small text keep in mind that those elements may need to be simplified or eliminated.
If your logo contains areas of white you must understand if that area will be embroidered in white thread or if the background color will show through.
If you plan to use a shirts with a patterned fabric such as a plaid, make sure your logo doesn't have small detail because it will be hard to see.
